The Truth about DOE changes

The Truth about DOE changes

Effective July 19, 2021, the DOE aims to reduce energy usage with new pool pump regulatory standards.

The Department of Energy has passed a new set of minimum performance standards for home and business in the United States. This new law is likely to eliminate special-rate and max-rate/full-rate motor horsepower ratings.

This information can sound overwhelming at first, but we've pulled a simplified list from our distributor's resource center to help make these updates less overwhelming.

Here's what you need to know:

  • MAJOR BENEFITS FOR CUSTOMERS!
    • New labeling requirements make it easy for consumers to compare the efficiency of pumps
    • Higher efficiency standards help consumers save energy and money $$$
  • DEALER INVENTORY NOT AFFECTED
    • Dealers can sell and install any pump models until inventory runs out
    • After July 19, 2021, manufacturers are responsible for producing pumps that comply with new regulations
  • A NEW WAY TO MEASURE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
    • Weighted energy factor (WEF) is the new standard for evaluating pump efficiency
    • The higher the WEF rating, the more efficient the pump
