BaduJet Turbo Pro vs. RiverFlow Swim In Place Jet: Which Is Right For You?

BaduJet Turbo Pro vs. RiverFlow Swim In Place Jet: Which Is Right For You?

When it comes to enjoying an amazing and challenging workout in our pool, a swim jet system can offer a big boost in turning your backyard oasis into your personal gym.

However, many different brands are offering a wide range of swim jet products and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by such a wide selection.

When purchasing the proper system, don’t you want to be sure that you’re choosing the highest quality?

When it comes to top-quality swim jet systems, two models currently sit above the rest: BaduJet Turbo Pro and Riverflow Swim In Place Jet

At J Designs Pool and Spa we have experience installing both BaduJet and Riverflow Swim In Place systems into our clients' pools. We even go the extra mile by having our clients swim in pools with both systems. That way, they can see which swim jet system matches their expectations for the type of workout experience they want to enjoy.

By the end of the article, you will understand the differences between each swim jet system and their comparisons in terms of water current, installation, and price.

But first…

Why Are Swim Jet Systems So Popular?

Swim jet systems have been used by homeowners for years as a way to gain the effects of a full-body workout without going to the shared pool.

After all, who has the room to plant an entire Olympic-sized swimming pool in their backyard? Maybe Michael Phelps, but not very many others.

So instead, we have turned to swim jet systems to transform our pools into dynamic water treadmills.

With easily adjustable water currents, swimmers can get a variety of exercises that can train and strengthen both their upper and lower bodies.

So if you want to train hard, you can train hard. If not, you can still get a great workout. It just all depends on which swim jet system you decide to install into your pool.

So let’s get into the two top swim jet models on the market right now, so you can decide which one suits you best.

BaduJet Turbo Pro

830x830 (1)

BaduJet Turbo Pro is the latest model from Badu Swimjet Systems by Speck Pumps, which has been creating resistance swimming products since 1973. So already their brand is well known in the pool building industry.

Able to be fitted into new and existing pools BaduJet Turbo Pro has been used by homeowners for more standard workouts. However, there are plenty of exciting features that set it apart from other models on the market.

Water Current

  • Water is moved by BaduJet Turbo Pro through a 4 HP propeller unit, which gives a strong enough water current for a challenging workout, but not enough for serious training.
  • Per their manuals, this model has an initial flow rate of 1,500 gallons per minute.

Installation

  • A BaduJet Turbo Pro model is fairly easy and quick to install because they are smaller units.
  • The standard model requires a pool ranging in size from 10ft wide, 20ft long, and 3ft deep. It requires a straight wall within the pool for installation with an unobstructed area in front
  • Comes with an extremely quiet permanent magnet motor
  • Has control buttons that are attached to the swim jet below the surface, as well as a separate control center.  You can also operate it from your smartphone.

Price

  • BaduJet Turbo Pro model price ranges from $12,000 - $15,000
  • Installation price ranges from $8,500 - $10,000
  • The warranty for a BaduJet Turbo model is for 1 year.

Riverflow Swim In Place

Now if you are looking for serious training and an intense cardio workout, then the Riverflow Jet might be right up your alley. Think underwater Crossfit (maybe that should be a thing!)

Since 1988, Riverflow, by Current Systems Inc., has been a brand associated with swim-in-place technology.

In recent years, homeowners have utilized the swim-in-place Riverflow models for their residential pools. However, because of the stronger water current of Riverflow models, the intensity they feel is comparable to if they had swam many laps in that Olympic Michael Phelps pool.

And Riverflow Jet is just the latest model that is keeping this brand on top.

Water Current

  • Riverflow Jet currently operates with a 10 HP force with adjustable speeds.
  • It can be adjusted to move a couple of thousands of gallons per minute in the pool. That’s quite a workout!

Installation

  • Has a very quiet motor
  • Riverflow Jet systems are more complex and take longer to install
  • It requires very large plumbing to handle the stronger flow of water
  • The VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) contains all the pump controls. Current Systems provides a wireless controller and a stationary wired controller. The wireless controller comes with a waterproof remote.

Price

  • RiverflowJet model prices range from $20,000 - $22,500
  • The installation price ranges from $15,000 - $16,500
  • The warranty for a Riverflow Jet is 5 years

Summary: BaduJet Turbo Pro vs. Riverflow Jet

Both BaduJet Turbo Pro and Riverflow Jet will give you the ultimate experience when it comes to getting a great swim-in-place workout. They both have adjustable speeds, and quiet motors and can be customized to fit any pool type.

So, how do you know which swim jet system is right for you?

If you are looking for more of a standard workout just to keep your body in working shape at a lower price, BaduJet Turbo Pro might be the system for you.

Riverflow Jet gives an athlete-style training workout with its stronger current. While the pricing for the model is more expensive with a more complex installation, it will no doubt give you the results that you are looking for.
