Transforming a Steep Hillside into a Luxurious Retreat

This stunning backyard renovation transformed an unusable hillside into a multi-level oasis featuring a cantilevered pool and deck, offering breathtaking views of the Los Angeles skyline. Due to the challenging topography, we drilled three 36-inch caissons 20 feet into bedrock to ensure stability, making this project a feat of engineering and design.

Elegant Pool and Entertainment Spaces

The black galaxy Pebblefina pool with olive green Tunisian tile blends seamlessly with the home’s Spanish Colonial Revival architecture. A Hydrolux automatic pool cover with polycarbonate slats helps retain warmth for year-round enjoyment. The spa spills into a Baja shelf, featuring matching marble decking and coping for a sophisticated touch. Color-changing LED lights enhance the serene ambiance.

Thoughtful Outdoor Living Design

A wooden-beam pergola with a TV, outdoor speakers, and heaters provides a comfortable entertainment space. The firepit area, surrounded by Mexican beach pebbles, offers a cozy setting under fairy lights draped over a bonsai Acacia tree. Tiered retaining walls, reminiscent of Italian ruins, are framed by flowering maples and azaleas, leading to a bocce court and an agave garden at the lowest level.

Stunning Landscape and Lighting

The lush landscape design features pittosporum, bougainvillea, echinocactus, and golden leucospermum, cascading down the rocky slopes. Over 100 low-voltage landscape lights highlight the natural beauty, while an advanced automation system ensures seamless operation, making this historic home’s backyard a luxurious retreat, day or night.
